Elections
State elections
Local government cannot meet all community demands without government and private sector support and investment to help deliver priority projects. These partnerships and alliances are vital. In preparation for the next state election, Redland City Council has provided the Liberal National Party (LNP) leader Campbell Newman and Queensland Premier Anna Bligh with a listing of major Redlands project priorities that require state funding and support. Read more about priority projects for the Redlands.
Council elections
Local government elections are held every four years in Queensland. In the Redlands, voters elect one Mayor, and vote for a Councillor to represent the Division in which they live. There are 10 Divisions in the Redlands. The next local government election will be held in 2012.
Use the 'zoom in tool' option to find the streets where the boundary divisions occur.
Voting is compulsory
You have to vote if you:
- are over 18 years
- are an Australian citizen
- have lived for at least one month in a Queensland electoral district
- are a British subject who is not an Australian citizen, but who was on the Commonwealth of Australia electoral roll on 25 January 1984 or the Queensland electoral roll as at 31 December 1991
