Forum 2
Council hosted its second development forum, at the Redlands RSL on 28 October 2010, to help foster the relationship between Council and the development industry. With more than 50 attendees, the forum provided an open and transparent process to
promote balanced and environmentally sensitive development.
An interactive workshop followed the presentations and gave attendees the opportunity to discuss two topical issues:
1. How will the new State Koala Conservation in SEQ Policy impact on development in the Redlands?
2. How do the requirements for water sensitive urban design affect development outcomes in the Redlands?
Attendees were able to give their opinions, ideas and suggestions on both topics and Council scribes recorded and presented the discussions back to the group.

The theme was Building a sustainable future in the Redlands. Around 50 development and building industry representatives attended the four-hour event, along with Council staff and representatives from the Department of Transport and Main Roads, Department of Infrastructure Planning and Local Government Association of Queensland.
Participants discussed how the industry and Council could better work together to deliver sustainable development outcomes, and how to balance environmental outcomes, job creation and Regional Plan population targets.
