Annual Report
Each year, Redland City Council produces an annual report. This is a legal requirement, but we also appreciate the opportunity to provide a report to our community on our performance against our corporate and operational plans. It also gives us a chance to highlight our achievements and outline how we are addressing challenges in the Redlands.
This year, we are reporting for the first time under the new Local Government Act 2009. The Act has slightly different reporting requirements from the previous legislation (Local Government Act 1993), including the addition of new information. This 2010-11 annual report is also the first based on the new Redland City Council Corporate Plan 2010-15 (which reflects the Redlands 2030 Community Plan).
2010-11 saw a number of major activities in Redland City and significant changes within Redland City Council, for example:
- Council faced a significant reduction in revenue following changes made by the state government regarding water and developer contributions
- Council adopted of a new Tourism Strategy for 2010-14
- Council adopted the Cleveland and Capalaba Centre Master Plans
- Council continued advocating for a number of key projects including fast-tracking of the Eastern Busway completion; state government involvement in redeveloping Toondah Harbour; and Translink action in Southern Moreton Bay Island transport networks.
